July Edition of Letters to our Daughters

Dear Nicky,

Summer is flying by and you’ve been really quite busy, which I ALWAYS think is a great thing for any teenager.  Between lifeguarding at the rec center, volunteering at the library, your Kidtopia job at Keystone, summer soccer league, rugby workouts when you can fit them in, youth group and hanging out with friends you’ve hardly had time to be bored, much less practice driving!

You’ve also found time to do a few hikes with some friends, which I think is great!  I see you forming a closer relationship with two friends who seem to be really great girls.  I think you’ll have lots of fun with them over the next two years.  They’ve also introduced you to a new youth group through a different church and I think its good for you to be plugged back  in.

As you get ready to start your Junior year, you’ve been thinking and talking a lot more about college.  Where do I want to go? What do I want to study?  What do I want to be when I grow up?  For awhile you’ve been interested in Psychology and Social Work, however lately you’re starting to question that direction and have been considering Physical Therapy or Business.  You asked me for some advice on how to figure it all out and I wish I had all the answers!  We decided that you should speak with some people in each of those areas to discover what their schooling was like and now what their jobs entail.  This week you joined me at work and shadowed Gigi, our amazing Marketing Manager.  She’s only two years out of college so it was fun to hang with her for the day and I think you learned a lot as well!  Next we’re setting up visits with a Physical Therapist and a Counselor.  I know these decisions seem big and scary now, but I know you’ll figure it out. I can’t wait to see where life takes you!

I love you.  Muah.  Jojo

Be sure to visit the rest of our blog circle and pop on over to my friend Amanda’s “Letter to our Sons”.

A little background about “Letters to our Children”.

Hanging with big sis.
